‘Drugs and Sport’

On Tuesday 20th November over twenty sixth formers attended a lecture on ‘Drugs and Sport’ at Birmingham University. The lecture was arranged by the West Midlands Chemistry Teachers’ Centre and was given by Dr Simon Cotton.
Dr Cotton discussed the various drugs used by sports competitors, from strychnine to steroids, and the human stories linked to them. He looked at the molecular structures of various compounds, presenting the information in an interesting and informative style.
